Ropotamo River

Ropotamo River

The river is not big, all its beauty comes from the magnificent long forest and beautiful water lilies. Longoz is a stunningly pristine flora. Ropotamo is formed by the rivers Rosenska and Tserovska, springing from Strandzha mountain and has a total length of 50 km. In its upper course the river is freshwater, but after a few kilometers it becomes salty. The shores of Ropotamo are very picturesque. At the beginning, the steep and terraced slopes are wrapped in greenery, under which secluded rocks appear in places. Among them, the most bizarre rock formation is the "Lion's Head". Tall elms, ashes, maples and other trees have intertwined and hung branches over the calm waters. Wild vines, ivy and other climbing plants crawl on them. They create the illusion of an equatorial forest. In its lower reaches, the waters overflow widely and form lush meadows or impassable swamps overgrown with marsh reeds and water lilies. The closer you get to the sea, the shores are surrounded by dense greenery. This is the most beautiful part of the river - the estuary, surrounded by forests, green hills and sand dunes. The river is rich in fish - mullet, ducks, carp, barbel and others.
